The verb shimesu means “to indicate,” “to show” or “to prove.” This word sounds formal. Words including this character are also formal.
A noun derived from the verb shimesu is shimeshi. Shimeshi means guidance or instruction. The idiom “shimeshi ga tsukanai” means that a teacher or senior behaves badly and the person is criticized as a bad model.
