maji-waru, maji-eru, kou (kō)

The verb majiwaru means to intersect, to cross, to be sociable, or to make love. You can use this expression when, for example, two lines intersect.

Meeting people is expressed with this character. The verb majieru means to mix or to exchange. Words with this character include these meanings. Mingling with people is kōryū, of which the ryū means to flow. If you are staying in Japan and looking for any chance for international exchange, search the websites of international associations, using the term “kokusai kōryū,” of which the kokusai means international. You will find associations like the International House, Osaka, the Yokohama Association for International Communications and Exchanges, and the Shizuoka Association for International Relations.
