To Request or to Rely On

tano-mu, tano-moshii, toyo-ru, rai
To request something is tano-mu. Somebody reliable and full of promise is described as tano-moshii. To rely on somebody is tayo-ru. The suffixes, mu, moshii, and ru are all in hiragana. They are called okurigana.
Related compounds are irai (request), and shinrai (trust or reliance). The i of irai means to rely on. The shin of shinrai means to believe.
- Begin to draw the left-hand side of the character. Draw the horizontal stroke.
- Draw the left side of the rectangle.
- Draw the upper and right sides of the rectangle. This is a hook.
- Draw the lower side of the rectangle.
- Draw the vertical line.
- Draw the sweeping stroke from where the fourth and fifth strokes intersect to the lower left-hand corner of the character.
- Draw the dot on the right of the vertical stroke.
- Begin to draw the right-hand side. Draw the top horizontal stroke.
- Draw the dot. This dot goes toward the next stroke.
- Draw the vertical line, which is the left side of the rectangle.
- Draw the right-angled hook.
- Draw the upper horizontal stroke in the rectangle.
- Draw the lower horizontal stroke in the rectangle.
- Draw the lower side of the rectangle.
- Draw the sweeping dot below the left side of the rectangle.
- Draw the dot in the lower right-hand corner of the character.
